AtnightsheopenedherhearttoJane.ThoughsuspicionwasveryfarfromMissBennetsgeneralhabits,shewasabsolutelyincreduloushere.

“Youarejoking,Lizzy.Thiscannotbe!—engagedtoMr.Darcy!No,no,youshallnotdeceiveme.Iknowittobeimpossible.”

Kittyownedthatshehadratherstayathome.DarcyprofessedagreatcuriositytoseetheviewfromtheMount,andElizabethsilentlyconsented.Asshewentupstairstogetready,Mrs.Bennetfollowedher,saying:
